The MagnaVault and DynaVaults are a very popular safes to customize. Because they provide excellent fire and burglary protection, customizing them will often give you the perfect safe. With a customized MagnaVault or DynaVault, you can be certain that you're getting premium security in exactly the package you want. Please see below for guidlines, restrictions and general info on customizing the MagnaVault and DynaVault safes.
Requirements for a Quote
Please be aware that we require any Request for a Custom Quote to be submitted in writing from a qualified dealer. There must be a sketch of the safe with the appropriate dimensions indicated on the sketch. This will help prevent misunderstanding. Please be aware that the sketch doesn't have to be perfect or dimensionally proportional, but we need something legible enough to determine all the appropriate dimensions and specifications.
Dimension Changes
- Generally, when specifying any dimension changes it is important to provide either the internal dimensions or the outer dimensions. Since the wall and door thickness vary across series, we will calculate the appropriate unprovided dimensions.
- When specifying outside dimensions, it is important to note whether you want the external depth to include or exclude the handle and the hinges.
- Please be aware that some external dimension may not be available if they make the safe unstable or unusable. A common problem is to request an external depth dimension that leaves no room inside the safe. It is important to take into account the thickness of the door and walls. Also, the width can only be reduced so far until the boltwork will no longer fit.
Multiple Door Options
There are essentially two ways to have a multi-door MagnaVault or DynaVault:
- The first method, which can be quite expensive, is to have the safe constructed as a multi-compartment custom safe from scratch. It'll be important to specify the number of compartments with approximately the size you want these compartments to be. These number may need to be adjusted depending on the thicknesses of the dividing walls.
- The second method is to have two safes welded together on top of each other. This often the cheapest option, often costing only a little more than the cost of the two safes.
Depository Options
We've have quite a few requests for MagnaVaults with Depository drop installed in them. There are only a limited number of ways to do this since cutting a hole into a MagnaVault or Depository essential ruins the fire and burglary protection. As such, any such requests will necessitate the removal of the fire and burglary label. There are essential two ways we can add a depository without ruining the fire and burglary protection:
- Weld a second safe to the top of the first one, cut a hole through both safe (through the bottom of the top safe and the top of the bottom safe) and then install a hopper/loader into the top safe to make deposits into the lower safe. This option is very expensive and not done often, but it does leave the fire and burglary protection intact.
- Simply weld a depository safe (one of the D-Series Safe, for example) to the top of the MagnaVault or DynaVault. Then transfer the items from the depository safe to the fire & burglary safe on a regular basis. This is more labor intensive but it is a much cheaper option.
Inner Compartments and Shelving
Inner compartments and shelves both can be arranged in just about any configuration so long as everything fits inside the safe. Here are some things to consider:
- Shelves can be fixed, removable or adjustable. A fixed shelf will be welded into place. A removable shelf will utilize angle-iron welded to the sides of the safe. Adjustable shelves use two pieces of track welded to each side of the compartment.
- Inner compartments can be with or without a door. If there is a door, you will need to specify the lock. The most common locks are usually a safety deposit lock (dual nose key lock) or a medeco single key lock.
Lead Times
- The standard lead time for a quote is 2-3 days after the specifications of the custom safe is finalized (which may require multiple communications).
- The standard lead time for production of a MagnaVault/DynaVault with dimension changes or a constructed multi-door MagnaVault/DynaVault is 2-3 months.
- The standard lead time for inner compartments/shelving depend on what we currently have in stock. If the safe itself is in stock, the standard lead time is 2-3 weeks. If it is not, then the lead time is 2-3 months.
- The standard lead time for depository also depends on the method. If both safes used are in stock, the general lead time is 2-3 weeks, otherwise it is 2-3 months.
